Klein ISD Board of Trustees Honors Alumni with Pursuit of Excellence Awards

Klein ISD Board Trustee Ronnie K. Anderson recognized four former Klein ISD students during his final Board of Trustees meeting in November. Klein High alumni Adam Davis and Sam Johnson, former Klein High student Sawyer Marcum, and Klein Cain alumna Madison Parsons were personally awarded a Pursuit of Excellence Recognition by Mr. Anderson.

“These four individuals are indeed pursuing excellence in their lives as proud products of our school district,” Mr. Anderson said. “They are young adults in the middle of this path of excellence and will eventually be distinguished. I am proud to honor them.”

Adam Davis

Adam Davis attended Schultz Elementary, Krimmel Intermediate, and Klein High School. He is a student at Mississippi State University.

“Adam is the kind of person who stands up for others,” Mr. Anderson said. “I’ve witnessed the fine young man he has grown into. Adam always does the right thing, even if it isn’t what is popular.”

Sam Johnson

Sam Johnson attended Kohrville and Kuehnle Elementary, Strack Intermediate, and Klein High School and is currently attending UT Rio Grande Valley.

“Sam excelled in basketball and track at Klein,” Mr. Anderson said. “While he was younger, he suffered tremendous loss in his family, and I saw the impact that had on him and the tough road he encountered. Sam has had setbacks physically but doesn’t let that knock him down. He comes back and sets personal records. He kept his head down, faith strong, and worked hard.”

Sawyer Marcum

Sawyer attended Ulrich Intermediate and Klein High School. He transferred his senior year but would’ve graduated from Klein in 2017. He attended the University of Oklahoma and currently works in Industrial Sales.

“I had the pleasure of coaching Sawyer through intermediate and high school. He always buckled down and worked harder, no matter the obstacle,” Mr. Anderson said. “Though he has had much loss in his young life, he keeps pressing forward and remains strong in his faith.”

Madison Parsons

Madison attended Benignus, Blackshear, Northampton, French Elementary, Hildebrandt, Hofius, Krimmel Intermediate, and Klein Cain High School. She works full-time as a Sterling Ridge Orthopedics and Sports Medicine medical assistant and is studying to be a nurse.

“I haven’t seen someone so focused and driven, and then learning what she’s been through in the last few years is amazing,” Mr. Anderson said. “She has a special road ahead of her, and we’re all proud of her accomplishments.”

Congratulations to Adam, Sam, Sawyer, and Madison on this recognition! Our #KleinFamily is proud of your success this far and can’t wait to see where you go next and what you do as excellent representatives of our school district.
